The AI-Mentoring project partners had a productive online meeting today, 14th February, where we discussed the progress we are making on the AI in Mentoring Training Programme for Work-Based Learning (WBL) Mentors. We explored how AI can be practically applied to everyday mentoring tasks, brainstorming creative and innovative ways to use these new tools. Our conversation covered the entire mentoring process, from preparing for the first meeting with an apprentice to evaluating their progress and growth.
We explored how AI can help mentors craft insightful questions for those initial conversations and efficiently summarize important information from apprentice CVs and reports. We discussed how AI can help personalize the introduction to the workplace culture, making apprentices feel welcome and comfortable. We also discussed diverse ways to explain tasks based on the apprentice’s learning style and generating real-life examples or alternative approaches to problem-solving.
Of course, mentoring is an ongoing process, and we examined how AI can support mentors throughout. We considered how AI can empower mentors to give more effective feedback, using tools like AI-assisted peer review and generating key discussion points for those critical end-of-phase conversations. We even envisioned how AI could help with structuring constructive feedback, summarizing apprentice progress, and even exploring potential career paths aligned with the apprentice’s skills and interests.
A big thank you to all the project partners for their continued dedication and hard work on this exciting initiative!
And to everyone visiting our website, stay tuned for more updates as we continue to explore the future of work-based learning with AI!
