On 18 and 19 June, trainers from Bulgaria, Spain, and Belgium took part in a two-day training designed to strengthen their ability to train company mentors working with learners in work-based learning programmes.
The event brought together 16 participants, exceeding the initially planned 12, which reflects the strong interest and growing relevance of the topic across countries. Over the course of the two days, the training focused on two interlinked areas: how trainers can develop a solid understanding of artificial intelligence and how AI tools can be meaningfully integrated into mentoring practices.
Discussions covered core questions such as how AI is shaping the world of work and what trainers and mentors need to know to stay relevant and confident in their roles. The group explored how mentoring unfolds across its four key phases: preparation, induction, implementation, and evaluation, and how AI can support mentors at each step. From formulating feedback to organising learning tasks or guiding career conversations, participants looked into practical examples of how AI can complement, but not replace, the human dimension of mentoring.
The training was co-designed and delivered by the project partners, with active contributions from the Bulgarian Industrial Association, New Mindset Coaching & Training, CuratedAI, Modern Education Foundation, and Tribeka Training Lab. It combined interactive input with practical group work, allowing trainers to reflect, test approaches, and prepare to adapt the materials to their own national contexts.
With the training now completed, the participants are ready to begin their next task, delivering training to company mentors and supporting them in making mentoring more effective, responsive, and future-oriented through the use of AI.
